I've been a little slow this week, but I did come up with a good idea if I do say so myself. My honey got me 4 shelves from a yard sale a couple weeks ago. I thought they would look great in my dining room but there was one problem. They were too big to fit on the walls I was hoping they'd go on!
So, they've been resting behind my door ... just waiting to find out their purpose in life.
I love dentil molding. With a couple coats of paint, I was just sure these babies would look great somewhere. If only I knew where somewhere was ...
I thought back on a project I did in college for one of my Interior Design classes. I drove around my town (Vincennes, IN) and took pictures of various architectural details.
Yup, dentil molding was one of them!
And then ... it hit me like a ton of bricks! I could use at least one of these shelves as my headboard! Duhhhhh!
This is just a test run, as I'm trying to get ready and pack to go home - to the Vincennes area - for the holiday. I used a candle and candle stick I already had, as well as the frames I just got at the thrift store last week. I put our initials in the bigger frame and I really like it! I've had the blue birdie for a while and I love it, but just couldn't decide where to use it.
I'm so glad I finally figured out how to get a nice headboard, use some decor items that have just been sitting around AND do something with our initials! I'll be sure to post some pictures when the project really is finished. Gotta scoot!
Wow, your hubby did good. I love those shelves. They are beautiful!
