(chalk) Board outta my mind

I'm getting a lot of experience with chalkboard paint ... I tend to fixate on something when I finally get the hang of it! I've been looking around the house and deciding what could use an update. Here's what I've come up with so far.
I got this basket a couple of weeks ago and I liked the top of it, but it just wasn't my style.
So, I chalkboard-ed it! It doesn't really have napkins in it, but it very well could.
The texture was perfect ... it made a good chalkboard.
I've previously stated that I love empty coffee cans ... and after a few days it hit me that I could be using my canned veggies, even meat for projects.
Washed out and ready for a makeover.
These make perfect little storage containers. Please don't mind my horrible handwriting ...
And they're even stackable, too. Talk about recycling!

I've got another project for a coffee can and two sweet potato cans that I can't wait to get started. I've got a pretty busy week ahead of me ... we're planning a "Christmas in July" bash at our house. I do have some decorating fun to show you, and an exciting furniture reveal! Hope you enjoy your weekend!

  1. Awesome!!!! I have the chalk board paint that you brush on but when that runs out (WHENEVER that is), I am going w/ spray. I will also say that I saw a tip somewhere that say after you paint your board to rub chalk over all of it(then wipe off) and it gives it a 'real' look. I do that w/ mine and it looks great. Just did one for a friend. I need to think outside the box like you did. Also, a great product I just tried is Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint by Rust-oleum. Wonderful stuff! I'm about to paint all of my brass knobs ALL around the house.
Also, will miss Monday's Thrifty Treasures...and I am SO sad! We're out of town next week and not sure I'll have net access. Boo hoo as I have some great finds this week!
