I don't do window(s)

Treatments, that is. That's right, ladies and gents. I don't have a single curtain on a single window in my home. Unless you count the old shower curtain I threw over my bedroom window.

Am I weird? Yep.

Thinking about my orange kitchen, I decided a good way to add an extra pop of color - and brighten up my mood on these dull wintery days would be to add some curtains.

My idea of curtains? A few years ago, my cousin made her own curtains out of either napkins or placemats - that detail escapes me - but I do recall they were super cute. I decided that I could do the same thing and do a no-sew version.

The plan is to find some pretty orange goodies, like these.
And simply drape them over my windows. Do I think it'll work? Probably not. Ok, so it might but it most likely won't be that easy.

What do you do for window treatments? Got any simple (and I mean SIMPLE) ideas?

  1. I am with you here! I don't have one single treatment in my house, only blinds...and at that, they stay up and open most of the time. I just don't care for them.
I do like your idea of trying those though..that way, you don't have much invested if you decide you still don't care for them.
And, I have been in a real funk lately and can't remember the last time I posted a blog. The Winter weather has me in my funk and I can't wait for Spring so I can get started back with my projects!

  2. Bed sheets. Just use stitch-witchery for the hems and you are good to go. You need to check out The Nester's mistreatment posts on her blog. She has a lot of good simple ideas.

  3. Go to

click on the side where it says, "window mistreatments."

Be prepared, there is so much awesomeness you will be there a while. There is one post called Mistreatment Party that has hundreds of real people sharing their own window treatments. Most involve a bit of fabric and some tacks! YOu will love it!

  4. I don't really like curtains either, and if my husband wasn't so scared someone might see him through the windows (we have no neighbors), I'd rip the curtains down in a hearbeat!

thanks for stopping by chester and donkey. I love your comments ... they kind of make me squeal with delight when I see one.
