A journal full of letters

Welcome back ...

I'm joining the party at Vintage Junky tonight. Be sure to visit our host (loving the cloche!!!!), and all the other partiers! I think this is gonna be fun one!

I don't have many things with letters or numbers, even though I'm quite aware of the craze. I actually just passed up a vintage set of letter stamps at the antique mall I went to yesterday. I really wanted to participate in the party and I remembered the perfect thing to add ...

This is a journal full of articles, quotes, and scriptures that belonged to my Great-Grandmother, Elsie. It doesn't get much more vintage than this. I fall more in love with her handwriting every time I turn a page. How about the quote on happiness?
"Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour upon others without getting a few drops on yourself."And the quote about home ... I'm planning to make a frame with these sweet words from Longfellow.
"Stay, stay at home my heart and rest; Home keeping hearts are happiest."
And another shot for you to enjoy ...

These letters are always close to my vintage-loving heart.

It might be Tuesday ...

... but I've got a case of the Mondays!

It also means I need to do two posts today since I've gotten out of the habit of doing so. Luckily that's an easy task today. First, click on this button for the info for the fun party going on at Vintage Junky tomorrow.

I'll be posting my entry later this evening ... I don't have much to share, but I know you'll like what I've got.

Second, I've been following Donna at Funky Junk Interiors for a while now and she's read my mind ... she's got a great post about finding your passion. Its something that I've been trying to work on myself, so its good to know I'm not the only one who questions what I'm doing! Be sure to check out the link ... especially if you've been blue or in a rut.

Come back this evening, friends. You'll find a little inspiration in vintage form.

Inside-out

I took advantage of my free time this weekend and did a little decorating for the season.

Luckily, my table setting colors are already a bit fall-ish so the addition of oranges, greens and yellows was easy to coordinate. I added a metal pumpkin that I absolutely love to the centerpiece of my table. See why I love it so?
I found this hand beaded, sterling silver service set in my fall decor box.

Anyone want some coffee or tea?

I did a little shopping for my front porch fall extravaganza. I had my mom to help, so it was an easy task! Judging the recent blog posts I know we're all ready for fall in one way or another. Well, ladies and gentlemen ... WalMart is ready, too. Everything I got (so far) for my porch was purchased at WM!

How cute is this wreath?!
I got these mums, in adorable fall colored baskets.
My WalMart had these for $6.5 ... a good solution for those of us who don't have planters!
I went back today for a bale of hay - for $4! The pumpkins and squash are fake ... I'll wait until more pumpkins start popping out to go with the real thing.I've got a little more planned but I'm happy with my decor so far!

One Word @ Etsy

Keeping up with my new tradition, here's another installment of One Word Saturdays. My word of choice today ... ORANGE, in honor of fall.

How about these wine glasses for a punch of color on your Autumn tablescape?
Love these spice shakers ... I would actually use them!
Adorable vintage sewing tin. How cute would this be in your craft room?
Pyrex, anyone?
Pretty beads!
Be sure to click on the photo to be taken to the Etsy Shop! Hope you're having a fantastic weekend!

FALLin' in love

I. love. fall. To me, its the most wonderful time of the year. I love the colors, crisp temps, and most of all ... the decor.

This year, I'm particularly excited because I have a front porch to decorate! My mind has been swimming with ideas, let me tell you. I envision pumpkins, gourds, berries, twigs and leaves. I can't wait to begin shopping!

I'm sure, with the help of some spray paint, I'll be able to create an inviting front porch display. To get you in the mood, here are some fall decor beauties to feast your eyes on!

White pumpkins, a la Ballard.
Painting my front door orange ... thanks Martha.
Spruce up your cloche?
How lovely would these be for centerpieces? Go to bhg for more!

I literally cannot wait to start this decorating adventure! How do you decorate for fall?

Silver, glass and metal

I am beyond happy that it seems like Fall is here! I am far from happy that I now have a cold the size of ... well, my head going on in my head. My head hurts so bad I just spell checked a blank post. But, given my recent vacation from blogging, I am pressing on - for you!
I have just a few more treasures from this weekend to show you ... I am still excited about the goodies I found! I am always drawn to the glass aisle, so I'm sure the first two pieces won't surprise you.

I found this adorable sugar bowl (and am experimenting with photography) ... And this too-cute creamer! I thought it would look great with some fresh cut flowers.
Surprise again! I got a piece of silver! Check out the veggie bowl ...

And found another tray ... I love the green!
All these items are either up for grabs now or will be soon over at chester and donkey at Etsy. It's becoming so fun to shop for items I think everyone else will love, I'm thinking more and more about renting a space at an antique mall to really spread my wings.

Hope you are all having a great week - enjoy the outdoors, especially if you're in the Midwest with me. We all know what comes after Fall!

Treasures, Anniversaries and Giveaways

It's Tuesday ... I know. I tried to post this morning but it just wasn't happening. So, I'll

On to subject #1. My 100th post is rapidly approaching. I know its Blogger tradition to do a giveaway for such an occasion and my personal assignment for this week is to find something extra special to offer my readers!

Now, for your assignments ... I would love for one of you, one of my 24 cherished followers, to win said giveaway but I'd also like to gain a few more friends. Be ready - when the time comes, I'll be posting pictures of the "prize" and it'll be your duty to pass along the chance to win to your friends.

As usual, the winner will have to comment and follow my blog. I know, it's such an obvious attempt to gather more friends but I love keeping up with your blogs, too! I turn to you all first when I need a blogger-pick-me-up. So, will you help me?

Now, subject #2. I had some really good luck thrifting this weekend. My "good luck" definition has changed over the past few weeks. Good luck to me now equals things I can resell on Etsy. I obviously pick things I like, so its a win-win situation for me!

I found these adorable Mikasa tea cups - along with the cream and sugar set. Don't you love orange?!

LOVED this. Its creamer-size and simply adorable. Perfect for Fall!

I'm kind of obsessed with these metal trays and luckily I've been finding them everywhere!

I also liked this vintage tea pot ... it certainly is short and stout.
This was one of my favorite finds. These eye glasses are true antiques ... they are heavy! They're prescription, complete with bifocals and the funny thing? I can see so well out of the bifocals! I thought they were too funky to pass up.

I've got more goodies to show you later on. Don't forget to be prepped and ready to help me celebrate my 100th post!
